About Us
Garadi Tribe
The term ‘Garadi’ is a Tulu word for an ancient gymnasia system that dotted many coastal Karnataka villages where young men were trained systematically in the martial arts. These schools first started appearing in the early 11th Century.
At the height of their power, there were 64 Garadis in coastal Karnataka from Gokarna to Mangalore. These schools were not only centers for martial prowess but also village centers for worship and ayurvedic healing. Records show Gurus travelling between the Garadis and the Kalari schools of Kerala. The main deities for their worship were the wild animals and spirits inhabiting these areas. We take inspiration from these ancient warrior clans to create our line of products that are 100% made in India.
